MP commends Cefn schools WWI project in Parliament

Today in Parliament (10/1/19), Susan Elan Jones MP praised an unique local history publication produced by Cefn area schoolchildren.

Commenting after she had spoken in the House of Commons Chamber, the Clwyd South MP said:

“Last year, many of us were privileged to attend very moving ceremonies which marked the centenary of the Armistice.  I wanted to pay tribute to some local schoolchildren who marked this solemn occasion with remarkable contributions.

“In the House of Commons Chamber today, I held up a copy of the ‘World War One’ Commemorative publication. This was the work of local primary schoolchildren from Ysgol Cefn Mawr, Ysgol Rhosymedre and Ysgol Min y Ddol who had researched the history of the 130 people who are named on the Cefn Cenotaph. The publication honours those residents of Cefn who either died in battle during the First World War or passed away afterwards as a result of their injuries. I was very pleased to have had the opportunity to talk about the work of our local schoolchildren and the commitment of Cefn Community Council and I was glad that their work was also commended by the Leader of the House of Commons.”
