Susan Elan Jones MP has called on the Leader of the House of Commons, Andrea Leadsom MP, to make time for a parliamentary debate on road safety issues.
The Clwyd South MP expressed concerns about excessive speeds and the need to make sure that driving bans are issued.
Speaking after her question in the House of Commons, Susan Elan Jones MP said: “There are far too many examples of people going at ridiculously high speeds on our roads and more needs to be done to tackle the problem. I will certainly be putting in for a parliamentary debate with a Minister about this really important issue.
“We’ve seen on the A5 here in North Wales a crazy situation where a driver can do 122 miles per hour and get a driving ban of only 56 days, or 138 miles per hours and a ban of only 90 days – that needs to change.”
