Clwyd South MP Susan Elan Jones has been thanked by consumer watchdog ‘Which?’ for her support in their campaign to appoint a single regulator to protect access to cash.
Susan Elan Jones MP, who is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Debt and Personal Finance, signed a cross-party letter calling for a regulator following concerns that a combination of bank branch and cash machine closures will limit access to hard cash.
Susan Elan Jones MP said: “I am very pleased to support this campaign. 250 free-to-use cashpoints are closing every month and we have seen all but one bank branch close in the Clwyd South constituency. I’ve constantly made the case that rural communities are different and that many older and more vulnerable people find it necessary to use cash rather than digital alternatives. I think the UK Government should toughen the law on this, but if they won’t, I will continue to fight for the best possible outcome for our area”.
