Susan Elan Jones MP has signed a declaration pledging to work with MPs from across the political parties to stop the suspension of Parliament before Brexit.
The UK Government has announced plans to suspend Parliament for five weeks in September and October; a move that has provoked wide-spread condemnation and public protests across the country.
The Clwyd South Welsh Labour MP has joined over 160 other cross-party MPs in signing the Church House Declaration, which pledges to do whatever is necessary to stop Prime Minister Boris Johnson from silencing Parliament in the run-up to the October 31st Brexit deadline.
Susan Elan Jones MP said: “This is a very serious and unprecedented situation with all its consequences for democracy, the economy and the livelihoods of ordinary working-people. I believe that the priority for all of us who oppose Johnson’s agenda must be to come together. I have already received many emails from constituents calling for MPs opposed to the Johnson agenda to put aside partisan bickering and stop a No Deal Brexit. I am firmly of the view that MPs of good will must focus totally on this over the coming days”.
