Susan Elan Jones MP caught up with Llangollen Railway volunteers as they near completion of the buffer stop at Corwen Central Station on North Wales’s only standard gauge heritage railway.
The Clwyd South MP has closely followed the progress of the project and was given a guided tour around the site by Project Manager, Richard Dixon-Gough, who said of the headway being made: “the sense of satisfaction is difficult to describe”. Mr Dixon-Gough went on to explain that the project would welcome new volunteers.
Following the visit, Susan Elan Jones MP said: “It’s wonderful to see the progress that has been achieved at Corwen Central. It’s very exciting to know that the project is nearly completed. However, there is still quite a bit of hard work left to do and this, I understand, is why the group are keen to recruit volunteers”.
George Jones of the Llangollen Railway Trust said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Susan Elan Jones MP to see the continued development of the Corwen Central site and to discuss the work still to be done to achieve its opening in 2018”.
